 The graph below shows annual water usage (in millions of cubic meters) by industries in some country.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Model Answer:

This bar chart compares the amount of water used by seven different types of industries per year, dividing the water usage into groundwater and public supply.

Firstly, the chemicals industry uses around 30 million cubic meters of ground water which is the highest amount of ground water used in all the industry. In addition, around 240 million cubic meters of public supply are consumed by chemicals industry. Furthermore, the usage of groundwater in metal industry comes in second place consuming nearly 240 million cubic meters annually, just over double the usage by food and drink industry. However, amount of public supply water used by metal industry per year is 90 million cubic meters, around half of the public supply water used by food & drinks industry.

On the other hand, paper industry's consumption of groundwater is around 190 million cubic meter compared to 80 million and 10 million consumed by textiles and machinery industries, respectively. Moreover, paper industry uses double the amount of public supply water used by textiles industry. Lastly, machinery industry consumes around 10 million cubic meters of the public water supply annually.

To conclude, it can be clearly seen that the different industries use different amounts of both types of water supply per year. However, chemical industry uses the major portion of both types.
