The following 3 question types can be solved using the same strategy so we will look at them together.
Question Type: Short Answers
In this type, you need to read a passage and answer questions. The instructions clearly mention how many words you can use. For example "USE NOT MORE THAN THREE WORDS."
Question Type: Sentence Completion
In this type, you need to read a passage and instead of answering questions, you are asked to complete sentences. Again, the instructions clearly mention how many words you can use. For example "USE NOT MORE THAN TWO WORDS."
Question Type: Flowchart Completion
In this type, you are given a passage to read and a table with some blank cells. You need to fill the blank cells based on the information in the passage. Needless to say, the instructions clearly mention how many words you can use.
Strategy for all the above question types:
- Once again, read the instructions first to find out how many words you can use for your answers. If it says NO MORE THAN THREE WORDS then you can only write 3 or less words. If you write more than 3 words you will loose marks for that question even if the information is correct. Every word is counted including 'a', 'the', 'of', 'at' etc..
- The questions follow the order of the text. In other words, the answer to the first question will be somewhere at the beginning of the passage. The answer to the next question will be in the next few sentences and so on.
- Always read the questions before you start reading the passage.
