Telecommuting refers to workers doing their jobs from home for part of each week and communicating with their office using computer technology. Telecommuting is growing in many countries and expected to communicate for most office workers in coming decades. How do you think society will be affected by the growth of telecommuting?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Model Answer:

With the advancement of telecommunication technology employees are able to communicate with the clients without even leaving their home premises. This transformational had a deep impact on the conventional notion of work. This essay will analyze its effects on the society by describing both the benefits as well as adverse changes.

To begin with, in my opinion, this increasing trend of work from home is beneficial as it allows the people to work from the comfort of their homes. It decreases the chances of workplace-related stress and depressions. Also, workers do not face the everyday problems like over thinking about dscp code etiquettes of an office. Moreover, this may also reduce the traffic congestion connected with office hours as people will not drive to workplaces thus reducing both noise and air pollution.

Professionals work environment provide interaction among colleagues with different personal and cultural backgrounds. For instance, an office of a multinational company has both national and immigrant employees. This opportunity to know about different traditional beliefs of others in lost where you work from home. Also, this innovative practices is difficult to follow for elderly people. For instance, my father finds in much simple to go and personally talk to the person for any assistance, then to sit in front of a computer or call on a phone which makes him feel perplexed. Thus, the old conventional method is more convenient for old and retired.

In conclusion, Telecommunication has both its pros and cons. However, with proper management and execution of some appropriate measures like company get-togethers for people to interact or touring programs for geriatrics its negative aspects can be ameliorated.
