Schools are spending some time in teaching traditional subjects such as History. Some people think they should rather spend more time in teaching skills that can help the students find a job. To what extent do you agree (or) disagree?

Write at least 250 words.
One of the highly controversial issues today relates to the subjects taught in school. Some people argue that schools should focus on importing industry work-related skills knowledge rather than traditional subjects. I completely disagree with this opinion and feel that educational teaching institutions should try to impart knowledge to students.
First of all, there are a few advantages of preparing students for the job market after in their schools. The primary advantage is that students will learn the required skills without the requirement for pursuing additional job-related courses after graduation. In addition to this, students can sell themselves to prospective employers much earlier, which can result in reducing the waiting time to obtain a job after graduation. For example, in my experience, I found that people who learnt programming languages like Java, C, C++ were able to land jobs right out of college, while others had to take additional coaching through boot camps.
On the other hand, there are several drawbacks of schools just limiting to job-specific knowledge. The first drawback is that the students neglect other subjects since they would not be required for jobs. Moreover, the industry-specific courses can help the students get their first jobs, but after that, it all depends on the self-research of the student. For instance, one of my friends who were a straight A student landed a job as a teacher after graduating. However, after a few years, she secured a six-figure job as a programmer in Microsoft. It was her brilliance and hard work that helped her switch jobs. Therefore, it is easy to see why it is too beneficial to only teach job-specific skills.
After discussing the points pertinent to the issue I feel that the only logical conclusion is for schools to focus on knowledge rather than job skills.
