IELTS General Writing Task 1 with model answer

You should spend about 20 minutes on this task. Write about the following topic

You are going to another country to study, You would like to do a part-time job while you are studying so you want to ask a friend who lives there for a help.

Write a letter to your friend. In your letter:
- give details of your study plans
- explain why you want to get a part-time job
- suggest how your friend could help you to find a job

Write at least 150 words.

Model Answer:

Dear Balray,
I hope this letter finds you in good health. I've some good news to share with you. Actually, I have got admission in State University of New York.

It is a part-time course in Financial Engineering which I need to complete within the period of 2 years. While the curriculum is heavily focused on quantitative algebra and numerical methods, students are also supposed to carry and research in latest trends of financial markets. Since it is part-time course, the classes will be held mainly in the evening, with few tutorials on weekends.

By the way, I'm planning to do a part-time job for few reasons. Firstly, I have taken a study loan that I need to pay back within the period of 3 years. Additionally, if I work simultaneously during the period of my course work, it will give me a good industry exposure as well.

To my understanding, since you've a very good knowledge of financial organisations, you can guide me on how to apply for a part time roles. Moreover, if you know someone at a senior position in any of the good companies, your recommendation can help me get an interview call.
