IELTS General Writing Task 1 with model answer
You should spend about 20 minutes on this task. Write about the following topic
You play a team sport with some friends. Last week a member of the team had an accident and wasn't able to play with you at the weekend. You decide to write to him in hospital, telling him about the match.
Write a letter to your friend. In your letter,
- tell him which team won
- describe the conditions on the day
- say how you felt about the match
Write at least 150 words.
Dear Arthy,
I was so sorry to hear about your accident! I hope you are feeling a lot better now.
The match on Sunday was very disappointing. We lost the game by 4 runs. The awful thing was we had been playing well till the last over. We had 2 wickets in hand and needed 13 runs to win from 6 balls; however, we lost the remaining wickets when we had 1 ball to spare. I undeniably missed your contribution, if you would have played in the middle order, as always, we wouldn't have lost the game for sure.
It suddenly started to rain when we were in the 46th over and that changed the game upside down. The pitch became wet so the ball was not coming on to bat which made it difficult for the batsmen to judge the ball.
Let us know when you are returning home and we all come and meet you. The rest of the team have sent their regards and we all wish you a speedy recovery. Get well soon!
Warm regards,
John.
