IELTS General Writing Task 1 with model answer

You should spend about 20 minutes on this task. Write about the following topic

You went to the local hospital’s Emergency Department with your young child who had severe stomach pains. You had to wait for almost four hours before your daughter was treated by a doctor and, while you were waiting, you were constantly ignored by the other staff.

Write a letter to the Registrar, complaining about the service you received.

Write at least 150 words.

Model Answer:

Dear Sir,

I am writing to complain about the inappropriate service I received at your hospital. My six-year-old daughter had unbearable stomach pain last week; thus, I rushed along with her to the emergency department of your hospital.

However, I was surprised to find that not a single doctor was available at the hospital owing to unknown reasons. Not only did I have to wait for more than four hours for the doctor to come back, but the other hospital staffs were also incessantly ignoring me when I tried to reason with them.

I felt down in the dumps on seeing such a poor service at the hospital;  Therefore, to curb such practices at the hospital, I want you to take two severe actions; firstly, penalize the doctor for being absent during working hours ; secondly, reason with the hospital staffs for showing unfriendly behavior to the patients.

I hope you will take stringent actions against them as soon as possible.
