IELTS General Writing Task 1 with model answer

You should spend about 20 minutes on this task. Write about the following topic

One of your pen pals will shortly be visiting your city. For some reasons, you can not manage to meet him at the airport on time.Write a letter asking him to wait for you at the airport and tell him how to identify you.

Write at least 150 words.

Model Answer:

Dear John,

I hope this letter finds you in the pink of your health. I have been on cloud noun, since I came to know through your letter last week, that you are visiting my city next month. Unfortunately, I regret to inform you that I will not be able to meet you at the airport as soon as you arrive.

The reason is that I have a crucial meeting on the same time when your flight will land. I will be late by 1 hour; therefore, I humbly request you to wait for me in the waiting lounge, where you can have the breakfast also.

By the way, as we have never met I must tell you how to recognize me: I am 6 feet tall with slim body. In addition, I will be wearing blue shirt and black trousers and holding the morning newspaper under my left arm.
