IELTS General Writing Task 1 with model answer

You should spend about 20 minutes on this task. Write about the following topic

A friend of yours is going on holiday soon and has asked you to recommend a destination.

Write a letter to your friend and recommend a good place for holiday that you have visited before. In your letter:
- Say where you went,
- where you stayed,
- what you can do there and what the food was like.

Write at least 150 words.

Model Answer:

Dear Bhoomi,

I hope this letter finds you in the pink of health. Last week, I received your letter asking about some famous tourist destinations. I can guess, at present, you will be on cloud nine thinking about the upcoming vacation. As you are planning to go this summer, I recommend you go to Goa where I went last summer.

I had pre-booked the hotel through online booking app: Goibibo; because there was a hefty discount at that time on the hotels. Apart from that, it was a 3-star hotel with fabulous ambiance, a swimming pool and a top breakfast was included in the cost.

There are many activities to do in Goa, including but not limited to: paragliding, various water sports, cruise party, beach side dance at night and much more. Whilst food was available at the hotel, we preferred to eat outside at the beach side restaurant and to tell you, the food was extraordinary and mouth watering.

I am sure you will definitely enjoy your trip to Goa on holiday.
