IELTS General Writing Task 1 with model answer
You should spend about 20 minutes on this task. Write about the following topic
You are working for a company. You need to take some time off work and want to ask your manager about this.
Write a letter to your manager. In your letter:
- explain why you want to take time off work
- give details of the amount of time you need
- suggest how your work could be covered while you are away
Write at least 150 words.
Dear David,
I am writing this letter to request a day off from work next Friday,14th May due to some medical reasons.
To begin with, recently I have been suffering from dental problems. On consultation with the dentist, I was suggested a root canal procedure at the earliest. Therefore I have booked an appointment for the procedure on 14th May.
The entire procedure will take 3-4 hours and the dentist has advised to take the rest of the day off. If everything goes fine, I should be hail and hearty by next Monday following the procedure. I have scheduled the appointment such that it coincides with the weekend. That would give me sufficient time to recover.
Finally, Joe Adams from my team will be acting as my backup in my absence. I am planning to wrap up my current assignment by Thursday,13th. I do not see any risk to our current deliverables.
Hoping to hear a positive response from you soon.
Yours sincerely,
Jack.
