The diagrams below show the stages and equipment used in the cement-making process, and how cement is used to produce concrete for building purposes.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Write at least 150 Words.
These two diagrams illustrate the different steps and procedures during cement production as well as the process of making concrete from cement and other ingredients to be used in construction.
Firstly, it`s noticeable that the process of cement making is divided into five stages. The limestone and the clay are the basic substances that are used for cement production. They are crushed between two rollers to produce a soft powder.
Secondly, this soft powder is mixed well in a mixer. Onwards, the mixture is heated by passing through a large cylindrical rotating tube called the rotating heater. After heating, the mixture still has some small gravels, so it has to be smashed by the grinder to produce the soft cement. Finally, cement is packed in bags to be ready for use.
On the other hand, concrete making is a one-step procedure, four ingredients are used in different percentages, Gravel constitutes 50% of the concrete mixture and sand forms about one quarter. However, cement participate by only 15%. These three components together with water are mixed in a large rotating barrel to produce the concrete the latter can be used for building purposes.
To conclude, it can be seen that the equipment and stages of production of both types of cement and concrete are different and simple.
