IELTS Academic Writing Task 1 with model answer

The chart below shows the number of travellers using three major airports in New York City between 1995 and 2000.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Write at least 150 Words.
The bar graph provides information on how many people arrived at three main airports – John F.Kennedy, LaGuardia and Newark, for a six-year period from 1995 to 2000. Overall, the number of visitor arrivals increase for all three airports throughout the period.
In 1995, there were 35 million people arrived at LaGuardia airport. This figure had risen steadily over the next five years. By 2000, this figure reached 68 million people; the highest number of visitor arrivals for the period. In contrast, Newark remained the least busy airport throughout the period with visitors arrival of 15 million in 1995. This figure increased slightly till it reached 41 million in 1998. In the next two years, the number remained constant. John F.Kennedy had the second highest number of visitors in 1995 at 25 million. In 1997, the number of passenger arrivals hit 45 million before dropping for the next two years, receiving the least number of visitors in 1998 and 1999.
Overall, it can be conclude that LaGuardia is the most popular airport while Newark airport is the least favourite among the visitors.
